Big Brother/Big Sister as the name implies, is an individual who serves as a mentor and friend to a child in need. When a parent has been murdered in a Terrorist attack there is a great need for the surviving children to have a model to look up to. Someone to take them on an outing, help with homework or just “be there”. This provides the surviving parent with a welcome respite from the new challenges presented in caring for the family. |
